Capital Ridge Tree Farm
Rows of young trees at Capital Ridge Tree Farm, with the barn beyond

Come pick a tree you'll grow old with.

Our family tree farm is located in the Loess Hills just north of Glenwood, Iowa. Every maple, oak and birch here is grown right in our ground. Walk the rows, pick the one you want, and we dig it for you by tree spade or ball and burlap.

The timber-frame barn at Capital Ridge Tree Farm

Rooted in quality. Grown for generations.

Capital Ridge started in 2025 with a timber-frame barn, a ridge of good Iowa dirt, and one stubborn belief: buying a tree should feel like visiting a neighbor, not wandering a big-box parking lot.

So that's how we run it. You come out, walk the rows with us, and we'll talk honestly about which tree fits your yard, even if it's not the priciest one on the farm.

Family owned & run

Picking out your tree

Come walk the rows and pick your own. No salesy walkthrough, just find the one you like. Call for information, and watch Facebook for special events throughout the season.

  1. You give us a call

Call for information and to arrange a visit. Spring and fall are the best planting windows, and we post special events on Facebook.

  2. You wander and pick

Walk the rows, look at as many as you want, ask us questions if you've got them. Take your time. It's your tree, your yard.

  3. We dig it up for you

Once you've found the one, we'll dig it for you by tree spade or ball and burlap, ready to plant.

From our farm to your backyard

Trees are a long promise. The burr oak you plant this fall will shade grandkids you haven't met yet, and we think about that every time we dig one.

That's what "rooted in quality, grown for generations" means to us. Come out some weekend, say hi, and let's find the tree your place has been missing.
